Welcome to the Altamount School Library Tech Petting Zoo:
Where the Teachers Meet the Tech

The Tech Petting Zoo is a place where you will have a chance to explore many different technologies that can enhance your teaching. There will be three afternoon sessions of the Tech Petting Zoo this fall (Sept. 21, Oct. 19, and Nov. 16), each with a different theme. All the sessions will be informal and hands-on. You will get to sit down at a computer in the library tech lab and play. I will be there, and so will my library aide, to help with any questions you may have. You will come away from these sessions with fresh new ideas and know-how about how to use different tech tools in your teaching.

Collaboration is the first theme.
On Sept 21 you will have a chance to explore and play with technologies that help you collaborate with other teachers, the administration, students, and parents.
You will learn how use Google Docs, and how to make a Wiki.

Teaching Literacy Skills with technology is the second theme.
On Oct 19 you will have a chance to explore and play with technologies that develop your students' literacy skills. You will learn how to make a world cloud in the playful program Wordle and how to create a comic strip in Comic Life.

Multimedia technologies that jazz up students' final projects is the third theme.
On Nov 16 you will have a chance to explore and play with multimedia programs that students can use for final projects. You will get the chance to play with Animoto to make your own video, and with Glogster to make your own glog.

Come to the Tech Petting Zoo and have some fun!
There will be food!
